About Dr. Peggie Ward

Peggie (Margaret) Ward, Ph.D. is a clinical and forensic psychologist and educator in private practice, who specializes in forensic child and family psychology in family law matters and high conflict divorce. Dr. Ward conducts independent psychological reviews and provides consultation on family law matters.

After receiving her B.A. from Connecticut College, where she majored in political science, Dr. Ward went on to obtain a M.A. in Psychology at California State University Los Angeles and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Dakota.  She completed her internship at Children’s Hospital Boston, specializing in abuse and family violence and her post-doctoral fellowship at Tufts New England Medical Center with the Family Crisis Program team.  Dr. Ward went on to work in the Children and the Law Program in the Department of Psychiatry Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and was on the clinical faculty of Harvard Medical School. 

Dr. Peggie Ward has been in private practice for over 35 years; her current practice is via Telehealth only where she is PSYPACT credentialed.

Consultation

Dr. Ward serves in numerous court appointed roles as parenting time evaluator, family therapist, and co-parent counselor in high conflict divorce and separation cases.

She provides forensic psychology consultation to attorneys, collaborative teams, forensic professionals and parents in the context of family law matters.

Dr. Ward serves as an independent neutral evaluator in Psychology Licensing Board complaints.  Her work includes review of Psychology Ethics Board Complaints.

Treatment

Dr. Ward specializes in treatment of individuals, couples, coparents, and families in high conflict separation and divorce family law matters.

Dr. Ward works serves as family therapist and team leader in parent child contact cases involving abuse, family violence, and parent alienation allegations. Dr. Ward has many years of expertise in family reunification therapy.

Dr. Ward works with parents in couples counseling, parent education, and preparation for potential separation or divorce. Dr. Ward has served as a parenting consultant as well as a coparenting coach.

Training, Task Force and Board Roles

Dr. Ward has written articles and book chapters and presented at state and national conferences on topics such as high-conflict divorce, parent child contact problems, family violence, and trauma.

Dr. Ward serves on the FLAFCC Task Force on Family Court Intake and served on the MA Family Court Committees to develop Guardian ad Litem Standards and to create the Model Parenting Plan Guidelines.

Dr. Ward served on the Massachusetts AFCC Board, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of Florida AFCC, and is on the Advisory Council of Overcoming Barriers, Inc.

Professional Continuing Education

Dr. Ward is the course developer for two multi-media online graduate level courses on Parent Child Contact Problems at William James College with Overcoming Barriers.
